木ノ瀬滉 / このせ こう
大阪府出身、埼玉県在住。
背景美術の展示を観たことをきっかけに、水彩画を描きはじめました。
現在は展示を中心に絵の制作を続けながら、あとさき塾に在籍し絵本制作にも取り組んでいます。
主に水彩や版画などの技法を用いて、動植物や心象風景、言葉から着想を得て制作しています。
遺跡や神殿、壊れた建築物、苔や生い茂った植物など、時の流れを感じさせるモチーフに目を向け、それらを通じて、形を変えながらもそこに存在するものや受け継がれる想いを探っています。
ちがう時代を生きる生き物たちが長い年月を経てその場所にたどり着き、同じ時間や空間に存在することの不思議さにも惹かれます。
そうして生まれた風景を絵にすることで、見た人が休息できるような場所や、ここへ行きたいと思えるような空間を絵の中の世界につくりたいと思っています。
Cou CONOSE
Born in Osaka and currently based in Saitama, Japan.
Inspired by an exhibition of background art, I began painting in watercolor. I continue to create and exhibit my artwork while studying picture-book making through an ongoing workshop program.
Working primarily with watercolor, printmaking, and other traditional techniques, I create images inspired by plants, animals, inner landscapes, and words.
Recurring motifs in my work include ruins, temples, broken architectural structures, and overgrown plants and moss. These elements represent places that were once objects of prayer or worship, and that have existed through the passage of a long time. I am deeply drawn to things that continue to exist—though their form may change—as well as to the thoughts and feelings that are passed down through generations.
I also feel a deep sense of wonder and connection to the past when I imagine creatures from entirely different eras slowly finding their way to such places over the course of many years, and now existing there. The miracle and mystery of that moves me.
By painting these inner landscapes, I hope to create spaces that become new places of “rest” or “prayer.” Through my work, I want to offer a quiet sense of peace to viewers, and to depict spaces that feel like emotional sanctuaries—places that make one think, “I’d like to go there.”
